Back Pain Therapy
As with all chronic pain, back pain can be elusive and difficult to treat. One of the most commonly failed surgeries is surgery to eliminate back pain. Discectomies, fusions, cages, nerve release, nerve blocks, spinal cord stimulators, pain killers and medications all have very poor outcomes in long-term legitimate research. Ask a back surgeon what it would take to force them into back surgery and the results may suprise you! Our approach is to try everything first and use invasive surgery as a last resort in all cases of chroic pain and back pain. If you've already had surgery for back pain hope is not lost!
Bio-Feedback
Biofeedback defined Biofeedback is a type of complementary and alternative medicine called mind-body therapy. It's designed to enable you — in mind-over-matter fashion — to use your thoughts and will to control your body. Biofeedback is based on the idea, confirmed by scientific studies, that people have the innate potential to influence with their minds many of the automatic, involuntary functions of their bodies. To help you develop this ability, a biofeedback specialist uses signals from special monitoring equipment to teach you to control certain body functions and their responses, such as: Brain activity Blood pressure Muscle tension Heart rate Skin temperature Sweat gland activity You can use biofeedback to help treat many physical and mental health problems when you've learned to recognize and control these functions and responses.
Stress Management
It may seem that there’s nothing you can do about your stress level. The bills aren’t going to stop coming, there will never be more hours in the day for all your errands, and your career or family responsibilities will always be demanding. But you have a lot more control than you might think. In fact, the simple realization that you’re in control of your life is the foundation of stress management. Managing stress is all about taking charge: taking charge of your thoughts, your emotions, your schedule, your environment, and the way you deal with problems. The ultimate goal is a balanced life, with time for work, relationships, relaxation, and fun – plus the resilience to hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on.
Herbal Therapy
Herbal medicine, also called botanical medicine or phytomedicine, refers to the use of a plant's seeds, berries, roots, leaves, bark, or flowers for medicinal purposes. Long practiced outside of conventional medicine, herbalism is becoming more mainstream as improvements in analysis and quality control along with advances in clinical research show their value in the treatment and prevention of disease. For most herbs, the specific ingredient that causes a therapeutic effect is not known. Whole herbs contain many ingredients, and it is likely that they work together to produce the desired medicinal effect. Many factors determine how effective an herb will be. For example, the type of environment (climate, bugs, soil quality) in which a plant grew will affect its components, as will how and when it was harvested and processed. Nearly one-third of Americans use herbs, and it is estimated that in 1998 alone $4 billion was spent on herbal products in this country. Immediate relief can be obtained through the knowledgable use of herbal remedies and supplements. Contact us now to learn more. |
